You Cannot Hide!

You Cannot Hide!

Genesis 3:1-11

INTRODUCTION: We need to “get real.” We need to take off our fig leaves and all the other things we try to hide behind and “get real!” John 1:43-47. Many hide behind so many masks that they are not even sure themselves just who they really are. Satan likes us to wear masks: 2 Corinthians 11:14-15.

I.   SATAN WEARS MANY MASKS!

There are times Satan talks us into wearing a mask of self-protection: Matthew 26:69-75. At other times Satan will trick us into wearing a mask for selfish gain: John 12:1-8; John 12:42. At other times Satan will trick us into wearing a mask for the praise of men: 2 Samuel 12:1-7. Satan may talk us into wearing a mask to hide a broken heart: Genesis 42:21-24. In this world it is often advantageous if you want to avoid confrontation: Luke 16:1-8; Matthew 10:16.

II.   WE ARE NOT CALLED TO GET ALONG WITH THIS WORLD!

Do you know we were never called to get along with this world? Philippians 1:29; John 16:33; 2 Timothy 3:12; John 15:18-21. Why will they hate you if they hate your Lord? Genesis 3:15; John 8:44; 1 John 3:7-13. Don’t be surprise if the world hates
you. Expect it! God foretold it! Our Lord does not want His children wearing masks to try to get along with the world: Matthew 5:13-16. Satan wants to have you live one way at church and another way in the world: Matthew 10:34-39. We are not called of God to have an easy life, to go along to get along, but to take a stand for our God! Living a truly godly life means we must throw away our masks and fig leaves and take courage in our Lord!

III.   OUR LORD JESUS SET THE EXAMPLE! NO MASKS!

Our Lord Jesus is our example of being straight forward with both God and man. Proverbs 29:25; Matthew 10:28. Are we seeking the praise of men or the praise of God? Romans 2:29. Like our Lord we are not to try to mask up in order to get along. We are to be honest and open with our God and with our fellow men: James 5:16; Hebrews 4:15-16. We can be honest with our Lord, He already knows! Hebrews 4:13. Before Adam and Eve sinned they had no shame even though they were naked before God and before one another: Genesis 2:25. For the Christian alone, true intimacy is possible with both God and man: 1 John 1:9. When we are walking in fellowship with our God and with our fellow man there is no shame or fear: 1 John 4:18. We must seek the praise of God not the praise of the men of this world: Mark 8:31-38; 2 Timothy 2:15; Hebrews 13:5-6. Is it time in your life to take off your masks and live for your Lord’s glory?
