What Life Would The Lord Have Me Live?

WHAT LIFE WOULD THE LORD HAVE ME LIVE?

John 10:1-11

INTRODUCTION: Yet another major question about life is: “Is there life after physical death?”  But perhaps an even greater question for many is: “Is there life after physical birth?”  When we ask that second question we are not just talking about existence.  We mean is there real life worth living!  There are three great questions we need to answer in this life.  The first question we looked at a couple of weeks ago: “What lord are you going to love?”  The answer we give to the first question will really determine our answer to the next two questions.  John 10:10; “Bios” life: Luke 8:14; 1 John 2:16; “Zoe” life: John 3:15-16; John 3:36; Romans 6:22-23.  Without being born into God’s family through faith in Jesus Christ you may have “Bios” life existence, but you will never have “Zoe” life God’s life in you.  The only life worth living is a life lived in, though, and for the Lord Jesus Christ.

  1. LIVE LIFE ENJOYING THE PRESENCE OF JESUS!

Living the “Zoe” life we can walk with Jesus, talk with Jesus, and be with Him every second of our lives.  There is nothing greater in life than knowing everywhere you go in this life and for all of eternity you will be in the very presence of God.  Matthew 28:18-20; Psalm 16:11; Hebrews 13:5-6.

     2.  LIVING A LIFE TRUSTING THE PROVISION OF JESUS!

All of the disciples Jesus chose to follow Him came from different backgrounds, different professions and they had different interest.  But one thing they all had in common when they followed Jesus was they left it all and followed Him.  What they learned is that wherever Jesus leads, He meets the needs and wherever Jesus guides He provides.  Jesus has promised to meet all our needs as well if we will follow Him.  Philippians 4:19: Everyday, in every way it is our Lord who meets all our needs.

     3.  LIVE LIFE FULFILLING THE PURPOSE OF JESUS!

The reason Tom Brady and so many others never find the “more” to life is because like all of us we have a greater purpose than throwing a football, marrying a beautiful woman, or getting rich.  The only thing that makes for life that is real life is living for a purpose that is greater than and will outlive that life.  The truly great questions that confront us in the twenty-first century are the exact same questions that confronted those who lived in the first century.  “Where did we come from?  Why are we here?  Where are we going?”  There are only two answers to those questions: 1.) Humans were purposely created by God in the past, and have the opportunity to dwell with Him forever in the future.  2.) Random processes evolved humans, that we have no particular purpose in the present and that we will cease to exist when we die.  The second line of reasoning leads to the fact that there is no grand purpose to our existence.  Life is ultimately meaningless.  We are all alone in the universe. And when we die we go into everlasting nothingness.  I don’t know about you but I will take John 10:10 every time.  Satan wants to rob you of “Zoe” life.  Jesus longs for you to trust in Him as your Creator God and receive life that is real life.
