The Thief of Unbelief!

THE THIEF OF UNBELIEF!

2 Kings 7:1-20

INTRODUCTION: Have you ever been robbed? Look with me at a man that was robbed by the thief of unbelief: 2 Kings 7:18-20. Do you know what success is? Success is finding out what God is up to and getting in on it. Our Lord loves to bless His people. When we join God in faith we will receive the rich blessings He has planned for all those who will by faith follow His plans: Hebrews 11:6. Our God has a plan to bless His people. The questions are: 1. Will you by faith get in on the blessings God has for His people? 2. Will you by faith trust God enough to obey Him so that He will bless you? 3. Or will you let the robber of unbelief take away the very blessings that God had for you?

I. UNBELIEF IS A MAJOR SIN WITH OUR GOD!

Some Christians think it is a little thing to doubt the promises found in the Word of God. But the truth is that the matter of unbelief is a major sin in God’s eyes. Our unbelief robs us of the very blessings that God has planned for us. Why do people wind up in the Lake of Fire? John 3:16-21. The sin that ultimately damns a person to hell is unbelief. Unbelief is the greatest sin of all. Every sin that people commit roots itself in unbelief: Genesis 3:1-6. Satan today is still robbing people of the very blessings God desires to give those who will trust in Him: Psalm 84:11-12; John 10:7-11.

II. THE SERIOUSNESS OF UNBELIEF!

The situation for the city of Samaria was very grime: 2 Kings 6:24. Today we face an enemy who also wants to destroy and rob us of the blessings our heavenly Father longs to give us: Ephesians 6:10-18. In the city of Samaria it was a time of hunger, it was a time of hopelessness and helplessness! 2 Kings 6:25; 2 Kings 6:26-29. Even today millions around our world will go to bed very hungry, not because there is not enough to feed everyone but Satan keeps us fighting with one another and robbing one another of the blessings our God has made adequate for all. Around our nation we have another kind of famine, not because there is not enough of the Word of God for everyone but because of unbelief we do not hunger for the Word of God: Amos 8:11; Proverbs 24:11-12: As a nation in 2024 we are still killing our own children at the clip of 1,038,000. Even believers are warned that if they do not feast on God’s Word they can become spiritual cannibals: Galatians 5:13-15. Today our answer is not in politics it is still with the Lord: Psalm 33:12. The king of Samaria’s answer: 2 Kings 6:30-31.

III. A TIME OF SPIRITUAL REVELATION!

In every famine, physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual God has a revelation for His people that can turn the famine into a feast! 2 Timothy 1:7; 2 Kings 7:1: How did Elisha know what was going to happen tomorrow? God told Him our God always has a plan. Our problem is we are always looking at the past instead of looking to our God and His revelation: Isaiah 43:18-19; Jeremiah 29:11-14. If you are facing a famine of any kind in your life today God has a plan to turn your captivity: Psalm 119:9-11. Your continued unbelief in a time of revelation will rob you of the blessing the Lord desires to give you: 2 Kings 7:2.

IV. GOD’S SUPERNATURAL PROVISION!

When we chose to walk by faith we pass God’s test and receive the promise: 2 Kings 7:3-11. Those who doubt will go without! 2 Kings 7:16-20. Our God always makes ample provisions for His people: Philippians 4:19; Matthew 6:33; Isaiah 59:1-2. When God sends a blessing to believers He also sends a curse to those who doubt.
