Our Sunrise Savior!

OUR SUNRISE SAVIOR!

Mark 16:1-8

INTRODUCTION: James Bradley wrote the book “Flags of our Fathers” which was later made into a movie. It is the account of the lives of six young men in the famous picture of the flag- raising on Mr. Suribachi on February 23ard 1945 during the battle of Iwo Jima. Three of those six young men died in the battle of Iwo Jima and three survived. James Bradley’s father, John Bradley was one of the survivors. When James was told that his father was a hero he went home and told his father what his third-grade teacher had told the class. John Bradley told his little boy that the real heroes of Iwo Jima where those 7,000 men that had died. They had given “the last full measure of devotion. This Resurrection Sunday morning, we are going to remember the One that gave His life so we could be saved from sin and The Lake of Fire. His Name is Jesus Christ!

    I.   THE EARLY MORNING TO THE TOMB!

Mark 16:1-2: This was around 6:00 am when these ladies headed for the tomb to anoint the body of their Lord. Jesus had told His disciples He would raise from the dead on the third day, but they had a memory lapse. These women were the last at the cross and the first at the tomb. These ladies were coming to anoint Jesus’ body on the third day; they also were notexpecting Him to rise as He had told them. Mark 8:31-33; Mark 9:31-32; Mark 10:32-34. These ladies were not missionaries, pastors, or apostles; but they did what they could to serve their Master. These ladies are a great example to us and show us that we also have a ministry for our Lord. Mark 16:2; John 20:1.

II.   THE PROBLEM OF THE HUGE STONE!

Mark 16:3: the problem of the huge stone was a problem the ladies just thought of but it was no problem for the Lord. Mark 16:4: This stone was not rolled away so Jesus’ body could get out but so that the disciples could get into the tomb. Matthew 28:1-4.

III.   THE COMMAND OF THE ANGEL!

Mark 16:4-5: Yes, these three ladies were afraid, but they were braver than the apostle John for when Joh got to the tomb later that morning he was afraid to go into the tomb. When they saw God’s angel they were scared but God tells us His angels are sent to minister to us: Hebrews 1:14. Mark 16:6: The angel clearly declared that the risen One was the crucified One! Mark 16:7: We need no longer be scared of anything or anyone because our Lord Jesus has risen from the dead. Our Lord came so we, His followers need no longer live in fear of anyone or anything! 1 John 4:13-19.
