Giving Our God Thanks!

GIVING OUR GOD THANKS!

Romans 8:31-39

INTRODUCTION: When is Thanksgiving Day? This year we will celebrate Thanksgiving Day on November 27. Thanksgiving Day in the United States goes back to our first President, George Washington as he proclaimed November 26, 1789 as a day of Thanksgiving. In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued a White House proclamation calling on “the whole American people to observe a special day of Thanksgiving on the last Thursday of November every year.” As followers of Jesus Christ however for us every day and every part of every day is to be a time of Thanksgiving to our God from us! 1 Thessalonians 5:18. Today we will share three things we can all be thankful for every single day.

I. WE CAN BE THANKFUL EVERY DAY THAT OUR GOD IS FOR US!

We can be thankful every day that our God is for us! Romans 8:31. We find an answer to many questions in this one verse? Who can be against us: No one. What can be against us: Nothing. When can life be against us: Never. Where can anything be against us: Nowhere. We learn from the lessons taught in the Bible is that nothing, at any time, at any place, at any time can be against us if our God is for us! In Genesis 39:20-23 Joseph learned this lesson. In Joshua 6:1-5 Joshua learned this lesson. Jonah learned this lesson in the belly of a huge fish: Jonah 2:1-10. Young David learned this lesson in a fight against a giant: 1 Samuel 17:45-47. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego learned that lesson in the fiery furnace: Daniel 3:16-18. One of God’s greatest promises to His servants is found in Isaiah 54:17. With that in mind we can live every day as we face all the challenges of this life that God will meet all our needs: Romans 8:32; Philippians 4:19.

II. WE CAN BE THANKFUL EVERY DAY THAT OUR GOD STANDS WITH US!

No one will ever be able to bring a charge before any of those God has chosen: Romans 8:33. Satan will certainly try but without success: Revelation 12:10. We all fall short of the glory of God but we have a Judge who is also our Defense Attorney! Romans 8:34; I John 2:1; John 5:22. When our God stands with us even on our worst day, even when we are guilty, we can truly be thankful!

III. WE CAN BE THANKFUL EVERY DAY THAT GOD STANDS BY US!

We will look now at some Scriptures that begins by telling us there will be no condemnation and ends with there will be no separation: Romans 8:31-39. If you enjoy mathematics as I do you will find great joy and more than enough to give thanks for every day of your life. God came to us sinners and added His grace to our lives. He then subtracted our sin from our lives. He then multiplied His forgiveness and removed all division of us from His life. We are truly more than conquerors through Jesus Christ both here and now and for all eternity: Romans 8:37. We all have our difficult times in this life but of all people we should be most thankful to our God because in Him we have a God Who stands for us! We have a God who stands with us! We have a God that stands by us no matter what!
