Enjoying GOD!

ENJOYING GOD!

Psalm 73:1-28

INTRODUCTION:  When you think of God, what picture comes to mind?  Do you see an austere old man who just watches to see you slip up the least bit so He may punish you?  Do you see a holy God high and lifted up that you could not possibly get close to?  Tonight, we will learn from God’s Word how we can truly make God our best friend and enjoy His company now and forever.  Matthew 11:28-30.  Jesus loved the little children and the little children loved Him: Mark 10:13-16.  We say “God is love” 1 John 4:16, yet we miss the whole point.  We say “God is love” but we get so caught up in the fear of God; service to God, and worship of God that we forget to be like little children and simply enjoy God.  If you are not enjoying God now or perhaps never have today we will see God in a new light.  In order to enjoy God, there are some things we must do:

  1. WE MUST ENTER INTO A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM!

Apart from excepting our Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior there can be no personal relationship to Him: John 1:10-13; John 14:1-6.

      2.  WE MUST LEARN TO ACCEPT HIS ACCEPTANCE OF US!

God does not accept us as His children based on what we do or do not do.  He accepts us as His children based on what Jesus Christ did for us.  Ephesians 2:1-10.

      3.  WE MUST LEARN GOD’S WAYS!

Our God does not work according to the way others work.  We must learn our God’s ways in order to walk in harmony with Him: Isaiah 55:6-11.

      4.  WE MUST LEARN TO TRUST OUR GOD!

You cannot enjoy anyone’s company if you don’t trust them.  Our God does all things perfectly; however, He does not do all these perfect things in our time or in our way.              Isaiah 26:3-4.

      5.  WE MUST KEEP SHORT ACCOUNTS OF SIN!

1 John 1:8-10.  Don’t be like Balaam.  He needed a donkey to tell him his sins and he still would not turn from his sins.  Numbers 22:21-35.

      6.  LEARN TO PRAISE GOD!

When we begin to praise our God, He fills our hearts with His joy!  Psalm 100:1-5; Philippians 4:4-7.  We must put off this world’s negatives and put on God’s positives.  Our God wants to educate His children on how to live with Him in joy!  Our God wants us to rejoice in His live and His goodness to us.  Philippians 2:14-18; Psalm 118:24-29.  We may enjoy many things but until we learn to praise the Lord in spite of our circumstances we just haven’t lived life to the full.  John 10:10.
