A Father Who Listens!

A FATHER WHO LISTENS

Hebrews 4:15-16

INTRODUCTION: We have a secret that the world knows little of. We can come to God’s throne of grace any time of day or night: Matthew 6:5-6. In our prayer closets our Lord welcomes us to come to Him with all our concerns and He promises to hear us. After prayer God’s power will be on!

I. INSTANT ACCESS TO GOD’S THRONE!

One of the greatest benefits of our Christian faith is the privilege of instant, direct access to heaven’s throne. The line is always open and the Lord is always attentive: Romans 5:1-2. What our church, what every church needs is not more novel methods, but men and women of God who will pray to their heavenly Father: Hebrews 4:15—16. In our prayer closet we can be actually in the very throne room of God. We can speak to our God and He can and will speak to us.

II. GODLY HABITS OF PRAYER!

It will help you greatly if you will set aside a regular time and place for daily prayer. Many set aside time early in the morning as our Lord Jesus did: Mark 1:35. You can call it your “Quiet Time” or your “Daily Devotions.” Don’t try to find the time each day or it will not happen. Set aside time each day and it will happen! Make prayer a top priority for each and every day. Be a person who also prays at all times: 1 Thessalonians 5:17; Luke 18:1-7. Praying without ceasing has its rewards. We need to learn to pause before we open our mouths to speak to our heavenly Father and ask for His wisdom to answer properly: Nehemiah 2:1-4.

III. CLOSE YOUR DAY IN PRAYER!

We should learn to close our day in prayer to our heavenly Father giving Him thanks for His blessings throughout that day: Psalm 92:1-2. Our God answers our prayers according to His will but he warns us: 1 John 5:14-15. Our God commands us to pray and to pray often. Then He tells us that if we ask not we will not receive His blessings. James 4:2-3. Are you spending time in your prayer closet daily? Are the communication lines to heaven open on your end? They are on God’s end.
