ARE YOU TIRED?
Matthew 26:36-45
INTRODUCTION: Have you ever been tired in your service for the Lord? Not burned out but warn down for sure. When we get just so tired none of us feel like functioning. Even our Lord’s apostles got worn down: Matthew 26:36-45. We all feel like such failures when a time of crisis comes and we are just so worn out from just the every day responsibilities we already have. When you run out of steam:
I. DON’T GIVE UP!
So often we look at the disciples running out of steam as a failure, yet when our Lord Himself ran out of steam we see it as Him testing His disciples? Luke 8:22-25. From time to time in all of our lives the time will come when we will simply run out of steam and need to rest but in the midst of our need we must not quite: Galatians 6:9. We are not called to do all the good we could possibly do we are only called to do the good our Lord has called us to do: Acts 10:34-38. Yes, even our Lord Jesus did not do all the good He could have done nor all the good others wanted Him to do. Jesus simply did all the good His heavenly Father had called Him to do.
II. GROWING IN STRENGTH!
Today we will learn seven ways to grow in our strength, not so that we can do everything. Not even so we can do everything we want to do or others may want us to do. But so that we can have the strength to do everything our God has called us to do. 1.) Set Your Heart on Pilgrimage: Psalm 84:5-7. That means the Lord will become our strength so we can carry out His call on our lives: Philippians 4:13. 2.) Learn to Wait on the Lord! We don’t always need to be in a hurry: Isaiah 40:28-31. 3.) Learn to be Quiet! Instead of us telling the Lord what we think He should do we must learn to be quiet to see what He would have us to do: Isaiah 30:15; 1 Peter 3:1-6. 4.) Learn to Acknowledge our Weaknesses so we Learn to Lean on the Lord: 2 Corinthians 12:7-10. It is often when we acknowledge our weaknesses to our God He gives His strength: 1 Chronicles 16:7-9. 5.) Learn to Walk in the Joy of the Lord! Nehemiah 8:9-10. Remember the day of your salvation how both grief and joy intermixed? Luke 15:3-7. 6.) Continue Repenting! Don’t try to hide your sin, God already knows. Learn the easy way by learning form King David’s mistake: Psalm 31:9-10. Don’t learn the hard way by failing to repent yourself: 1 Corinthians 11:29-32. 7.) Learn to Walk God’s Way! Proverbs 10:27-32. Don’t let Satan rob you of the blessings that the Lord gives to those who will choose to walk in His ways: John 10:7-10.
